The STC Phoenix Chapter maintains a job bank (that is, a list of local job openings) for job seekers. Each entry in the list is sent to us by area employers or agencies. Job leads will be posted to the Web site typically within a few days after they’re received. Description
The candidate will create materials for posting to the Web site for the National Science Foundation grant-funded project titled, “A Systems View of Electronics,” www.esyst.org. There are no benefits provided for this position. The center may entertain a less than full time number of hours per week depending on qualifications. The site for the work is at MATEC in Phoenix http://matec.org/about/directions.shtml. MATEC is a Member of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs at the Maricopa Community Colleges.
Qualifications

The candidate will have demonstrated experience and knowledge in instructional design for web delivery of interactive content. The ideal candidate will have a background in a high technology area, preferably electronics. United States citizenship required.

Summary of Position
This opportunity is for a technical writer with web-based application and business and training documentation experience. We are looking for a writer who can produce innovative and effective documentation, including online help files. The position requires a broad knowledge of healthcare and healthcare-related software applications and business requirements. The candidate may be asked to produce a variety of technical articles, help systems, multimedia walkthroughs, marketing materials, and/or manuals for a wide range of users and target audiences.
Requirements
- Read and understand business requirements, change requests, test plans, and system documentation
- Interview and document various business processes and systems work products in order to create workflow diagrams, training manuals, technical documentation, and client-facing documentation
- Analyze, write, revise, edit, and review technical publications and other business documentation
- Coordinate the delivery of appropriate documentation to satisfy client and internal team requirements

– Work within the confines of document management systems, e.g., SharePoint, to organize and maintain all documentation
- Work with team leaders to provide estimates of time and resources required to complete a documentation project
- Build on the SDLC process to create and maintain appropriate company documentation
- Identify areas for improvement in existing documentation and work with team leaders to prioritize these improvements and edit and revise documentation accordingly
- Interact with Usability, Design, Marketing, and Software Engineers
- Work well with others and communicate schedules for subject matter expert review of documentation in order to achieve goals and meet deadlines

– Be capable of establishing style sheets and guidelines to ensure uniformity in the ?look and feel’ of all company documentation
- Work independently
- Be responsible for design, format, and production of document and deliverables
- Maintain a solid knowledge of software products and services
- The ability to develop an in-depth understanding of our customers, products, and services
- Demonstrate strong creativity, problem solving, prioritization, and organizational skills

– Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequently shifting, simultaneous priorities

Experience
- 2-3 years experience in technical publication and writing
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities
- Solid grammar, use of proper language, and editing conventions

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with web-based technologies and applications
- Knowledge of standard concepts, best practices, and procedures of writing, technical writing, and of the domain, internet, and software industry
- Knowledge of XHTML with the ability to create and edit code
- Experience producing animated walkthroughs and training materials, e.g., Flash, Captivate, or Camtasia
- 2-3 years of related software programs and equipment, e.g., RoboHELP, Windows, Interleaf, MS Office, FrameMaker, ArborText, and SGML on DOS and Macintosh platforms

Education
Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in a related area
