Words, Words, Words

Logophiles, rejoice!

words1For those who revel in words, check these sites:

» Save the Words  - The Oxford English Dictionary wants you to adopt a word in danger of extinction. (Note: this page may take a while to load. Be patient – it’s worth it! And make sure your sound is on.) How about frenigerent… veprecose… buccellation?

» Compendium of Lost Words - If you need the definition for your adopted word, but don’t subscribe to the Oxford English Dictionary, try this compendium.

» The Language Monitor - Did you know that the English language now contains over 1 million words and terms? Yep – “Web 2.0″ became word no. 1,000,000 on June 10, 2009.

» The Verbing of America - If you are tired of words like “incentivize,” “consumerize,” or “you-name-it-ize,” and you like poems, see this humorous commentary.
