Reflections: Job Market Trends & Solutions

Our panelists, Sherry Michaels and Barry Maid couldn’t have been more clear in their message at last Tuesday’s dinner meeting:  Shed the old and embrace the new!

Start by cultivating  and marketing the skills so common to technical writers who take them for granted:  Researching and problem solving.  Use your research skills to approach companies that aren’t hiring, but you’ve determined could use your skills.  Learn about the newer communication devices and the applications that are being created for them and how you could you contribute to those application’s success.

What do you think about this advice?  What kind of success have you had in your job search? Please add your comments here.
