Description

  • Write, edit, index, or revise technical user and training manuals. 
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and/or product management to gain a thorough understanding of the product. 
  • Analyze requirements of writing project to determine types of publications needed. 
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation. 

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Create (from the ground up), edit existing, and maintain technical documentation for current and future iTRACS software applications. 
  • Develop documentation project plans and timelines.
  • Collect and interpret input from Engineering or other departmental personnel in order to create training manuals.

 Required Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Should have a good understanding of the networking environment.  This includes an understanding of the following concepts: Switches, Servers, VLANS, Routers and Windows Networking.
  • Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate detailed information over the phone, in writing, and in person. 
  • Must communicate well with both individuals and groups, including experience in the presentation of technical material to both expert and general audiences.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills and an understanding of programming concepts, operating systems and/or networking.

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • The ideal candidate has a BA/BS in Journalism, English, Technical Communications, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Requires a minimum of five years writing experience, preferably in a technical field with an emphasis on technical documentation.  Prefer that several of the five years of experience be in information systems/information technology and network infrastructure management.
