Phoenix
Chapter Food Drive
In November and December donations roll into United Food Bank in Mesa
(UFB), and at our December meeting, the Phoenix Chapter collected 95 pounds of
nonperishable foods for UFB. By May or June the shelves get fairly empty, but the need still
exists. Currently, UFB has
a shortfall of 300,000 pounds as compared to May 2001.
We will be collecting nonperishable foods and personal items at our May
meeting to be delivered to UFB. For any additional information,
contact
Karen Zorn (klzorn@zorntech.com).
(United Food Bank)
Many of UFB's clients receive food
stamps. However, with food stamps you can only purchase food items, not basic
necessities that people need on a daily basis. As a suggestion, personal
items can come in the form of the toiletries many of us collect during our
travels. Your generous tax-deductible donation will go a long way to helping
those in need. The following items are needed:
Canned meats (tuna, chicken, SPAM, etc.)
Peanut butter
Canned fruit
Canned vegetables
Packaged pasta and rice
Paper goods
Personal items (toilet paper, napkins, paper plates, feminine hygiene,
toothpaste, soap, shampoo, diapers, etc.)
