STC Fall Seminar

eLearning:  When, Why, and How

Saturday, October 20

STC and ASTD to present full-day workshop

Sponsored by CLARK Training & Consulting
Instructed by Jane Smith

 *** $650 value for only $150 ! ***

The Phoenix chapter of STC (Society for Technical Communications) and the Valley of the Sun Chapter of ASTD (American Society for Training & Development) have formed a partnership to bring you a one-day, hands-on workshop on Saturday, October 20 titled eLearning: When, Why, and How. This workshop is a portion of CLARK Training & Consulting’s 2-day workshop, Evaluation & Design of eLearning, normally offered for $1295 per student. Because we are getting a 1-day portion of the workshop, and because STC and ASTD were successful in negotiating a much-reduced rate, the price for you to attend is only $150!

You may have attended Jane Smith’s Writing for CBT and Multimedia seminar sponsored jointly by STC and ASTD last spring. Both half-day sessions received rave reviews! Whether you were able to attend last spring or not, you’re sure to love this full-day workshop which looks at the subject of eLearning in more detail, including the pros and cons of Computer Based Training (CBT), Interactive Multimedia Training (IMT), and Web Based Training (WBT).

This 1-day, hands-on workshop will cover: types of learning with examples, when should eLearning be used, what are the tradeoffs between WBT/CBT/ILT, interface/screen metaphors and examples, and writing for eLearning. If you are a technical communicator, course developer, trainer, information designer, publications manager, or training manager and are interested in developing eLearning courses, then this workshop is for you!

eLearning:  When, Why, and How will be a combination of presentation and exercises.  Some of the hands-on exercises might be

  • Evaluation of your training environment and the appropriateness of eLearning

  • Planning the redesign of an Instructor Led Course for eLearning

  • Choosing a screen metaphor

  • Critiquing online courses

  • Rewriting content for eLearning
